Teaching Philosophy

A teaching philosophy in any form was a new concept for me.  But as I enter into the final steps of my journey I have developed a firm idea of how I believe teaching should take place.  My teaching philosophy is student-centered, participatory, and oriented toward community service and service learning. Teaching is best when it is co-intentional with a collaboration for learning between the student and the instructor. Teaching is more that filling up a students' head with useless information.

Teaching is ensuring you present opportunities for the learner to obtain knowledge that will be carried with them for a lifetime.  Opportunities such as interactive lessons, hands-on assignments, much like our own video productions. In the type of training/ teaching I present, opportunities for my students are: planning a community event, speaking before State Legislation and through the presentation they must give to thier own peers and younger grades. I believe the right teacher with the right attitude can be one of the most influential people in a students life.
